Quick answer: For low-cost dental care in Cincinnati, start with one of the city's many community health center dental clinics, which charge sliding-scale fees based on income and accept Ohio Medicaid. NeighborHub Health and Bobbie Sterne are close to downtown, Price Hill and WinMed serve the west and north, and several sites list early-morning walk-in or emergency slots. Uninsured Hamilton County adults with low incomes can apply to the Good Samaritan Free Health Center.
How many low-cost dental clinics does Cincinnati have?
Cincinnati has more low-cost dental listings than any other Ohio city in our directory. When I went through them, I counted 26, mostly in Hamilton County, with two HealthSource Eastgate listings in Clermont County. Twenty are community health centers. The rest are 3 hospital dental clinics, a nonprofit dental center, a free clinic and the UC Blue Ash dental hygiene clinic.
The fee picture is unusually consistent: 22 of the 26 use sliding-scale fees based on income, and 23 say they accept Medicaid. Four are school-based dental centers for students of the school only. You can see all of them on our Cincinnati dental clinics page.
One caution: many Cincinnati listings were last confirmed from a 2024 source, so details may be out of date. Call before you go.

Does Ohio Medicaid cover dental care for adults?
Yes. Ohio Medicaid covers dental care for adults, including checkups and cleanings on a set schedule, fillings, extractions and dentures. Some services, such as dentures and some surgical extractions, need prior approval. Children and young adults under 21 get broader dental coverage through Healthchek, Ohio Medicaid's benefit for kids. Details vary by plan, so ask the clinic to check your benefits. If you live in Kentucky, note that the UC Holmes oral surgery clinic says some Kentucky Medicaid plans aren't accepted.
How much will I pay?
- Sliding-scale clinics set fees from income and family size; bring proof of income. WinMed Winneste lists a $10 minimum per service.
- UC Blue Ash lists flat fees from $15 to $30 by age.
- Good Samaritan is free for adults who qualify.
Ask for an estimate before treatment beyond an exam or cleaning.
What should I bring to my first visit?
- A photo ID
- Your Medicaid or insurance card
- Proof of income, such as pay stubs or a benefits letter
